Who we are
This website, deskbuds.app, is run by Deskbuds, an independent project based in the United States (“we”, “us”). Because we are in the United States, your information is processed there and wherever our providers operate. For anything about your data, write to privacy@deskbuds.app.
What we collect, and why
| What | Why | Basis |
|---|---|---|
Email address, the time you agreed, and the link tag you arrived from (for example ref=instagram) | To email you once when Deskbuds is ready, and to learn which channels bring people in | Your consent |
| Your answer to the one-tap poll | To understand interest. If you join the list afterwards, it is stored with your sign-up | Our legitimate interest in knowing whether people want this |
| Optional questionnaire answers (hours at a screen, what you work on, how screen days feel, what would help, the vibe you like, age group, a fair price, and a free-text note) | To decide what to build and how to price it. They are linked to your sign-up by a random code, and shown to us in groups rather than next to your email | Your consent, which you give by answering. You can skip any question or the whole thing |
| Visit data: pages viewed, which site referred you, country, device type, operating system and browser family, and a pseudonymous daily code that lets us count unique visitors | To see whether the site works and where visitors come from | Our legitimate interest |
| Messages you send us through the contact form (what you wrote, the topic, the email address if you choose to give one, your country, and the app version and system if sent from the app) | To answer you and to improve things. We only reply if you gave an address | Our legitimate interest in responding to you, or your consent if you ask us to act on your behalf |
We set no cookies, use no advertising or social-media trackers, and do not store your IP address. The daily visitor code is a one-way hash that changes every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next.
Who handles your data
We never sell your information and we never share it with data brokers. Only these providers process it for us:
- Cloudflare: hosts this site and stores the database. Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, under Cloudflare’s data processing terms and standard contractual clauses.
- Resend: sends the notification email that tells us a contact-form message has arrived. It handles the message text and the reply address you gave, under its own data processing terms.
- Google: delivers the fonts used on this page (your browser asks Google’s font servers for them, which means Google sees your IP address, as any website would), and runs our email, which is where messages you send us arrive.
We may disclose information if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Email addresses and questionnaire answers: until you ask us to delete them, or 24 months after launch, whichever is first.
- Visit data: 13 months.
- Contact messages and the emails about them: 12 months after we receive them, or sooner if you ask us to delete them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU or UK GDPR, or California law), you may ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or export it, and you may withdraw your consent at any time. Write to privacy@deskbuds.app from the address you signed up with, and we will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We do not make automated decisions about you.
Age
This site is for people aged 18 and over. If you believe someone under 18 has given us an email address, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
The site uses HTTPS only. Access to the stored data is limited to us and protected by a password. No system is perfectly secure.
Changes
If we change this notice we will update the date above and, if the change matters, tell people on the list before it takes effect.
